Just how AMUSING was that park??
And to think that amusement parks are meant to bring joy and happiness....that it did....and didn't. We went to the Guangzhou Children's Park and Ammon loved the rides. So much did he love them that we could not get him off the rides. He went kicking and screaming to each new transition. But once he was on, boy, was he committed to having them most fun a guy can have whoopin' and gigglin'. The roller coaster was his very favorite.
What the photos do not show is the mega meltdown at the entrance of the park as we waited for the driver to arrive. And of course, each balloon and candy seller couldn't stay away and tried to console him with their wares. Actually I think they were hoping we would try anything to get him to stop screaming. WRONG! Connie kept yelling at them, "Bu yao! We don't want it. Go away!!" Connie then bestowed Ammon with the honor of having the very worst tantrum she has seen a child throw. WAHOO! Lucky us.
She did tell us that most children will at least listen to her but Ammon won't. He will fight for what he wants until he gets it. This is a strong quality that will serve him well. We just have to channel it the right way. Give up is not in his vocabulary.
We left the park and went to the electronic business part of town and went on the search for game boy advance games and scored! 13 games for less than $30 US and 3 of the cartridges have 30-50 games on them. Merry Christmas !
Connie and Jack, our Guangzhou guides, took us for dinner that night and brought their 11 year old son Leo with them. He is a very nice boy and was brave about trying his English with us. He is in his last year of elementary school.
Sunday closed with us being able to talk with Deb Sorenson who had arrived to meet her 3 year old Piper the next day. Hearts were aflutter.
