I wondered why Ammon had two long strands of runaway bangs on his forhead. Now I know. Whoever cut his hair last was darned lucky to do as good a job as they did. We took Ammon for a hair cut. We got one clip done and off the chair he wanted. What ensued next was pandemonium. The entire 6th floor of the Hefei Holiday Inn was able to hear the protesting. Both my husband and I are holding him on my lap and the stylist is quickly and patiently trying to finish the job. We were all wringed in sweat and HAIR by the time we called it good. You can see in the photo he got knicked a time or two but as soon as we got him off the chair the crying and screaming immediately stopped and the smiles were back, along with an even more handsome little boy. We paid the 20 yuan for the cut and promptly tipped the stylist another 100 yuan. He earned every bit of it.
Me thinks that the first blood draw and trip to the dentist will require a sedative on Mama's part.....or a gallon a Red Bull, I'm not sure which. I can already clearly see it will be jolly good fun, yes jolly good fun I say. But I tell ya, if he could go through that without having a seizure, the medicine must be working.
We leave for Guangzhou today and Lan and I will be doing shopping today in Hefei. It has rained and rained of late here and is raining again this morning. It even rained in our bed last night. Lan fell asleep at 6 pm and after wrestling with Ammon for the next three hours to go to sleep...once he rolled over, took Lan's big toe on her little foot her his mouth and promptly gave it a big old bite. We can now add biting to spitting and slapping as behaviors we desire to extinguish.
Anyway, Lan was completely tuckered out and didn't even notice the chompers clinging to her toe, phew. But about 1 am I awoke to a completely drenched side of the bed where Lan had just peed. She never does that, but alas cleanup in room 1720 was required. Ammon did not pee in the night at all. That is two nights straight. And no accidents yesterday. Making progress with pull ups still in reserve.
At the noodle shop at lunch Ammon was yelling out all kinds of commands to the waitresses and and they responded. As we were leaving our waitress asked if he speaks any Chinese. LOL! So, obviously they don't understand Ammonese either. But he knows how to command attention.
And people are quite perplexed why a very healthy looking, happy boy is our son. With no outward physical medical need they can't figure it out and we draw a crowd everywhere we go and poor Lan is pretty much ignored but Lan doesn't like strangers anyway so it actually is okay.
Well time to take the kids out of the tub and get ready for the day....and that flight to Guangzhou. I'm shaking in my boots already.
PS... can anybody guess what is drying in the picture we took near a restaurant? I'm not planning to eat there....
PSS...add to the list hair pulling as another undesired behavior. Lan is now calmed down and watching a DVD safely protected by dad as Ammon gave her long locks a mighty hard tug.
